Revenge Post: Hamlet

The need for revenge can be understandable, but is never healthy. It may somehow help in healing a person's personal trauma but does one achieve anything else, besides temporary satisfaction? For instance, Hamlet goes mad when he tries to seek revenge for his father, which damaged his emotional wellbeing and self-confidence.  I think that he was trying very hard to prove his dead father innocent, and his uncle guilty, that he becomes nonsensical in the process. However I think, it would not make a person like Hamlet any different from his uncle that actually did the wrong doing, in the first place. Furthermore, it seems that it is very rare that revenge might be justified, so forgiveness is the best path to take, in my opinion. Also, as the saying goes; “forgive, but never forget". Also, Hamlet could have tried a different approach into proving his uncle guilty, rather than murdering him. Plus, that way many misconceptions would not have happened. Almost everyone died in the play, except Horatio, just because of Hamlet’s actions.  However, Hamlet is not the only one to blame because the ghost (Hamlet's dad) was guiding him to take the wrong path. Moving on, I believe that there is always some good in a person, and even though Hamlet's actions were bad, his intentions were good overall. Lastly, there is a difference between avenging and revenge. To avenge is to punish someone's mistake(s) with the idea of seeing justice done. And, to revenge someone is harsher, and the person is less concerned with justice and more concerned about getting back at them.
